Huangshan can be visited year-round. For most first-time overseas travelers, spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons. Summer has lush scenery and dramatic clouds but more heat and rain. Winter can be beautiful with snow and fewer crowds, but some trails or areas may close for safety and maintenance.
Spring: March to May
Spring is a strong season for fresh greenery, flowers and misty mountain views. Rain is possible, so keep the route flexible.
Summer: June to August
Summer can bring dramatic sea-of-cloud views after rain, but it is also warmer, wetter and busier during school holidays.
Autumn: September to November
Autumn is one of the best seasons for Huangshan. The weather is often clearer and cooler, and the mountain and villages can be excellent for photography.
Winter: December to February
Winter is best for travelers who want snow scenery, rime, quieter paths and lower hotel pressure outside holidays. Cold weather, icy stairs and seasonal closures can affect routes.
